Concept

We released footage that emphasizes the reality of war,  projected on the soldier’s goggles to show their reality against our protected actuality: blue skies and rich landscapes, war that is experienced by faraway people. The purpose was to show how the illusion that violence is something that happens elsewhere and to others is created.

“Hiding some dead bodies affects how other dead bodies are viewed.”

As part of our concept, we decided to visualize the following argument made in the article: “Those who support banning photographs of American military casualties understand the images not just as antiwar but also as anti-soldier.” (When We See Photographs of Dead Bodies and Not Others, by Sarah Sentilles)
